Embar'rack'sing
On Joss & Main, the Gilt of home furnishings and housewares, I happened to notice this dish rack marked down to $33.95. I'm perplexed at how the item could have sold out at this price, as well as how anyone could believe this once cost $80.00 at retail. Why? I picked up the exact same item at Home Goods two years ago for $11.99. Granted, Home Goods offers some pretty big discounts on designer pieces, but this is a f****** dish rack, and it would have never cost $80.00 or even $33.95. Let this be a reminder that not all designer discount/flash sale/sample sale site offerings are the deals they appear to be.

Wish List - Glen Plaid
It may not be the most practical pattern, but I love it... particularly in the form of a three piece suit.
Damn.

Stafford Prep Gingham Sport Coat
For only $30 on clearance at my local JCP (I know, I know), I couldn't pass up owning something so unique as a brown gingham sport coat. Quality? It's not the best, but certainly not the worst jacket I've owned. It fits surprisingly well in the shoulders, which means I can wear this thing without looking like it is wearing me. I'll have to share an outfit pic soon, but thus far I've paired it with white linen trousers and several butcher-stripe shirts.

The Seersucker
In honor of National Seersucker Day (yes, it exists)...
2 ounces white rum
1/2 ounce cinnamon schnaps
1 ounce lemon juice
2 strawberries
Muddle one strawberry in glass then add cracked ice.
Mix ingredients and pour into glass.
Garnish with one strawberry.
Enjoy.

Inspiration - Purple Perfection
I like the choice of pocket square, lapel piece, tie and shirt here, but it's the use of a tan jacket which makes this outfit so light and summery. I might have to recreate this look very soon... sans flower.

Happy Father's Day
We know not when the ones we love will leave
but on Father's Day and always, we remember and believe
With faith and joy in the lives they have led
The sweat they've poured and the tears they've shed
Through work for the church, work for family
True devotion and kindness so easy to see
So let's thank our fathers, uncles, all with great love
The ones who are with us, and those who now reside above
~Me

I dedicate this to the many great men in my family who have left too soon, and to my father, who's managed to hang on and survive despite such terrible struggle.

Dear "#menswear" weirdos,
Perhaps I've been Tumbling a bit too much, but I can assuredly, positively state that it's never cool, stylish, hip, dandy, preppy, sprezzy, or whatever to let your tie hang sloppily below your waist with the narrow end hanging beyond the large end. This is not style, it is stupid.
Also, throw away the soft-brimmed sun hats. You're neither gardening nor beach-bumming whilst walking your major metropolitan city.
Thank you,
The Cable Knit Charlestonian

Today at the Thrift
Creepiest thing ever at the thrift? Yep. Several weeks ago I saw a baby doll with fiery red eyes and crazy hair, but this bank is much, much worse. You put a coin in the clown's hand and pull the arm, causing the tongue to slide back and those awfully beady eyes to blink. I actually didn't find this thing all that creepy at first, but the more I look at this photo, the more paranoid I feel. Yikes.
