Today at the Thrift - Vintage Pocket Squares

I found these circa 1950's pocket squares amongst a box of women's scarves at a local antique shop.
The four cost only $3.

Just in from eBay - Dream Jacket

Just when I thought I owned all the sweaters I could ever want, I found this on eBay. After a few last minute bids, I spent around $71 for the win. Though I never pay so much for sweaters, even cashmere, the hybrid sweater/jacket look made the price completely worthwhile. Unlike most of the Polo pieces I find, I have no clue how much this originally cost. I don't remember seeing it in a store or online in the past seven years (since I've been buying Polo), but I would have gladly paid twice my winning bid. As if the patch pockets aren't enough, having the opportunity to wear this with a pocket square makes it so much more functional. Now, this fall, before breaking out my heavy tweed or corduroy sport coats, I'll be using this double-breasted beauty.

Today at the Thrift

There may be no Kiton or Isaia to find at the local thrifts, but I'm quite fortunate to discover the occasional Oxxford piece. Today, I picked up this remarkable glen plaid sport coat from legendary Schwabe-May.

Today at the Thrift - Tie Trio

I just visited an antiques shop in downtown Charleston which sells pretty much everything wonderful and old, including some menswear and accessories. I didn't expect much from a company known for its leather, but this Italian-made Coach tie is composed of one of the finest silks I've ever felt. The Polo logo tie isn't for me, but perhaps something for the shoppe. Vintage Liberty ties are always a special find, and the colors on this particular piece are ideal for fall.

A book about 1000 chairs is far more interesting than it seems.

Today at the Thrift - Fore

Like much of my clothing, my golf club collection is an amalgamation of thrift shop discoveries. Though I don't often have time for the links, I do find time to hit the range. Before heading out last Saturday to strike a few I came upon these slightly beat up, but still beautiful, drivers (and two 3 woods, not pictured). As a lefty, it's been unbelievably difficult to thrift my clubs. Over the past few years, I've bought one driver at a time, each slightly better than the last. I've found newer and newer clubs with lighter shafts, sturdier grips, better-designed heads. Yet, these two drivers (and  3 woods) are f***ing wonderful and by far the greatest improvement to my bag. I just upped my long game by twenty yards and all it cost me was $18 (for all four clubs).

Today at the Thrift

Vintage ties from the 1950's-60's. Too slim for my style, these will be finding a home in the CKC Shoppe.

My Go-To Sweater

Ralphie's pima cotton sweaters are a tremendous value, if you find them cheap enough on sale. Though now selling for around $100, I managed to pick up these three from the Polo Summer Sale last week at only $33 a piece.
