In case it's not so clear, I'm wearing a vest, not a full sweater. Probably no surprise, the whole outfit is Polo. Not pictured are my navy chinos and go-to brown Aldens.
I love cable knit sweaters - hence the blog title. I also love cricket/tennis sweaters, especially those with contrast collars. This sweater in pima cotton is perfect for any season.
Though I feel it's not essential to match the tie to the sweater collar, the pairing ads understated sophistication. While I love button-down shirts, I again went for the more formal look with a semi-spread collar and made sure to wear a thick tie to fill the gap.

Wow, this vest is just looking great...blame for my criticism, but i think the yellow tie ist two much here. You could have paired it with a dark blue shirt (resembling the vest´s collar blue) and that yellow tie would have been a great choice...this way, the contrast is not strong enough.
ReplyDeleteI agree, a dark blue shirt would certainly heighten the contrast. I'll try that next time! However, I'll go with khaki chinos instead of the navy I was wearing at the time.

As for your questions: i got to admit that i am a real bargain hunter. I bought the shoes you asked me about on ebay, and the cost didn´t exceed much more than 25$. Additionally, the tie was about 15$...you see, it does not take hundreds of bucks to look good and gentlemanly (but what am i telling you, you know that yourself :))

I've always liked the kits you have put together. I'm a big fan of the cricket sweater. I've been shopping for a replacement for mine, unfortunate party foul, they are just becoming harder to find at a reasonable price.

ReplyDeleteI have been checking out your blog for a while, and I am a fan. You have good style, especially for a younger dude. One bit of advice though. If you want to look like a stylish gentleman, you should REALLY shave and get a haircut. ASAP. It would make all the difference. No offense.
ReplyDeleteThanks for following the blog. I know the beard doesn't look so great, but I like it. I usually grow it out over the winter then keep it shaved the rest of the year. I would totally agree that my hair looks awful in most of my posts. I let it grow out too long before getting it cut recently. The way it appears in my most recent posts is how I generally keep it - rather short and neat.
