Today's Outfit

Several days ago, I posted a Today's Outfit pic with this L.L. Bean shirt, a jacket and paisley tie. Later in the day, I swapped out the jacket and paisley tie for this vintage wool sweater and shantung silk tie. The sweater, vintage American Eagle, is (shockingly) made in America. The shantung tie is an old favorite, one of my first thrift finds. All this is accompanied by Levi's 501s and nubuck Polo Ranger Boots.

Today's Outfit - Simple and Shantung

When you're wearing a tie this bold, it's best to keep the rest simple. Aside from a complimentary pocket square, a solid blazer, shirt and trousers maintain a rather traditional combination.

Sweet Sweet Shantung

I love finding these old ties with the tags still attached. New Polo ties cost around $120. This tie originally cost $20. I bought it for $7.

Shantung silk is a great substitute for heavy wools when you want a well-textured tie without the heat.
