This spring, take some time off from twill and invest in several pairs of oxford shorts. They're available everywhere from Target and JCP to Brooks and Ralph Lauren. Just remember to not wear an oxford shirt with your oxford shorts.

Cricket in Short Supply

I'm all for embroidered shorts - lobsters, martini glasses, seagulls, etc. However, designs may go into too much detail and hold too large a scale, such as with these cricket-embroidered shorts. I've admired the game of cricket for many years and have played for the past four, but I can't imagine any such fan seriously donning these. Besides, who wants someone to look down at your shorts and jest, "Your wicket's showing."

Oxford cloth is known for its durability and warmth. It fades and frays over time as it grows softer and more comfortable. With those characteristics, I believe oxford shorts make sense.

Making Much of Madras

How much madras is too much madras?

First of all, some of you might be against pairing shorts with blazers regardless of pattern. I believe shorts can go with blazers if they're of proper cut and style. But disregarding the opposition, can such combination succeed in madras? In such muted tones, the entire outfit has cohesion.

Yet, would you do double madras?
