Wish List - Florsheim by Duckie Brown

The prices on Duckie Brown's Florsheim line may be quackers, but I'm down with Duckie on these styles... pending some tremendous markdowns.

  1. I've been looking at some saddles lately, but I haven't made the plunge. I really need to get some duck boots as my next purchase. We're going to get back into the second rainy season in September, and I am going to need them.

    1. I've collected a few saddle shoes at the thrifts, but certainly have nothing like this. I have brown/tan, brown/black, brown/white... but I'll never wear black/white. Are you familiar with Nordstrom's 1901 line? They seems to offer trendy colors and styles, but are priced under $100. I'm not sure if they currently have saddles available, but the selection for spring/summer was incredible.

You can't go wrong with Bean boots. I've read terrible reviews on Lands' End knockoffs, so though they may be considerably cheaper, I would go with the real thing. Personally, I have a pair of Bean boots (10") from a yard sale as well as Eddie Bauer knockoffs. The EB model came from a thrift for $1, is made in America, and has a shearling lining - couldn't be more comfortable. Plus, these have a green shell and only a 6" rise, making them much more practical for daily use. While I'm not sure of the current state of EB's productions, I'd give them a look as well.

  2. I'm familiar with Nordstrom's 1901 line. I've even tried them on. The black/whites can look good, but often just make you look like a Catholic school girl... Now... As a former Catholic school boy, I certainly like to see them on Catholic school girl. Especially if paired with the lacy ankle socks and plaid skirts...
